Drywall Repair in Los Angeles
Nail holes, anchor pull-outs and doorknob holes patched and texture-matched to the wall around them, for LA landlords between tenants and homeowners with a punch list.
Which drywall repair does your wall need?
Pin and nail holes
Under 1/8 inch. Filled with lightweight spackle, sanded flat, ready for paint the same day.
Dime to quarter size
Anchor holes and nail pops. Fiberglass mesh over the hole, two thin coats of joint compound feathered past the edge, so it never telegraphs through the paint.
Fist and doorknob holes
One to six inches. A California patch: a drywall piece cut larger than the hole, its paper flange bedded in compound. Stronger than the wall around it.
Bigger than six inches
Cut back to the studs, backing installed, new drywall screwed in, taped and finished in three coats. Anything touching wiring or plumbing is quoted first.

Will the patch show through the paint?
Not if the texture matches. A perfectly smooth patch on an orange peel wall looks worse than the hole did, and LA buildings vary by the decade they were built and the last time someone re-textured them. That is why the closet door gets a test spray before the visible wall does.
Patch, texture, primer and paint happen in the same visit, with the compound drying between coats while the next wall is masked. Add a touch-up or a full room from our apartment painting service, or fold the patch into a handyman punch-list visit with the fixtures, hardware and smoke detectors.
For landlords, every job ships with before and after photos and an itemized invoice. Under California Civil Code §1950.5, a doorknob hole is deductible damage while picture-hook holes are normal wear; our normal wear and tear guide draws the full line.
Frequently asked questions
With TurnOver LA a small drywall patch with texture blend is $150 per patch and a medium drywall repair is $240 per patch. Full-sheet damage and anything near wiring or plumbing is quoted after we see a photo. For a typical 1BR turnover with a handful of nail holes and two doorknob holes, LA handymen commonly charge $150 to $250 and licensed contractors $400 to $600.
Yes. Most LA apartments built between the 1950s and the 1990s have orange peel walls; knockdown shows up in units built or remodeled from the late 1990s on, and some walls are smooth-troweled. Every building has its own texture profile, so we test-spray a closet door before touching the visible wall.
Yes, if you add paint. Patch, texture, primer and paint can all happen in the same visit, so you pay for one trip instead of two. Paint is priced on the painting menu: a touch-up is $200 and a full room repaint is $395.
Sometimes. Under California Civil Code §1950.5, doorknob holes, kick holes and anchors that pulled chunks out of the wall are deductible damage. Picture-hook holes, small nail holes and hairline settling cracks are normal wear and are not. Every job ships with before and after photos and an itemized invoice you can attach to the deposit statement you send within 21 days.
Popcorn ceilings in buildings permitted before 1979 can contain asbestos, and California rules (SCAQMD Rule 1403) require a test before anyone disturbs them. Tell us the building's age when you book and we'll quote that work separately.
